Chess Board Setup

How do you set up a chess board?

Position the board with a white square on the "lower right."

A chess board has 64 squares. Each player has 16 pieces that are placed on the back two rows.

In the front row are all pawns. In the back row the set ups are the same, with each your pieces "facing off" against your opponent's counterpart.

6 Types of Chess Pieces

Each chess piece moves differently.

Objective: Capture the King!

Chess is a game of strategy.  You try to move your pieces into situations that will help you knock out your oppenents pieces.  When they are weaker than you, it will be easier to capture your opponent’s king before she captures your king.
